Because it nearly does. A Boulton unit operates continuously for up to twenty years. Every component is specified for that life, and every containerised power station is tested at full load before it leaves the factory floor.
Each Boulton unit is a self-contained combined heat and power plant: a precision gas engine, generator, heat recovery circuit and controls, engineered into a single acoustic enclosure that arrives on a truck and works for twenty years. One unit powers a factory. An array powers a data centre.
It converts around 40% of its fuel into electricity and captures another 51% as usable heat: for hot water, industrial processes or, through absorption chillers, cooling. Less than a tenth of the energy is lost. The grid loses half.
The workhorse for mid-size manufacturing, cold storage and process sites. A single container, commissioned in months.
For heavy industrial loads and multi-shift operations that never stop drawing power.
The array building block. Combine units for 4, 10, 20MW and beyond, with n+1 redundancy engineered in.
Every unit ships with remote monitoring, automatic grid-parallel or island-mode operation, and acoustic enclosure options. See the platform working on real sites in our deployments.
Every system is assembled at our UK facility and run at full load before dispatch. Factory assembly means faster deployment, tighter quality control and an installation measured in days rather than months. Your site needs a gas supply and a concrete pad.
A Boulton unit is not civil infrastructure. It arrives on a truck, sits on a pad, and can be redeployed if your operations relocate or your load changes. For growing businesses, that flexibility is worth as much as the price of the power.
Every Boulton engine runs on natural gas today and biomethane tomorrow, with no conversion cost. Hydrogen blending is on our development roadmap. Where a site has no gas main at all, units run from on-site LNG storage, fully off-grid. The full fuel path is on our sustainability page.
Natural gas · biomethane · hydrogen blend (roadmap) · LNG off-grid
90%+ total; up to 95% with absorption cooling
10–20 years of continuous duty
Output, temperatures, emissions and efficiency reported around the clock
Service intervals are scheduled around your production, and because we manufacture the machines, parts come from our own shelves rather than another company's waiting list. The commercial side (who pays for what, and when) is on how it works.
